The Profession Of Landscape Architecture In Thailand Apr 24

Landscape architecture plays an important function in the improvement of all contemporary cities. The principles of landscape architecture are used in order to create open ‘breathing spaces’ so the city has some fresh air and does not look cluttered. Landscape architecture is taught in Thailand and is acknowledged as a profession offering professional qualifications at degree status.

If someone wants to practice as a landscape architect in Thailand, then he or she has to have a bachelor’s level in landscape architecture from one of the two universities offering the course. Chulalongkorn University and Thammasart University turn out around 100 post graduates between them in landscape architecture each year.

Bangkok is home to most of Thailand’s landscape architectural firms. There are around thirty large companies and around eighty freelance landscape architects.Numerous of the post graduates want to continue their study or gain more experience abroad before settling down to work in Thailand. In order to work as a landscape architect in Thailand, one needs to get a license from Thailand’s official Association of Architects.

The Thai Association of Architects plays an vital role in maintaining standards of landscape architecture. The Thai government, both local and national, use landscape architects to help with the design of such projects as motorway development, inner city reconstruction and airport design. On a more understandable level, landscape architects are involved with the Royal Flora Expo in Chiang Mai, northern Thailand.

The Association of Architects in Thailand is a private organization but it works hand in glove with the Ministry of the Interior. It assists the government regulate four professions which can have an effect on the environment and one of these is the occupation of landscape architecture. However, landscape architecture does not make up 25% of the Association’s work. At 15% of the association’s workload, it is fair to imagine that landscape architecture is under represented in Thailand.

The Association of Architects grants licenses to applicants based on the results of three concepts. These concepts are education, experience and examination. The principle of education is satisfied by gaining a BA in landscape architecture. Then the applicant has to supply evidence of work experience and finally, the association has its own examinations which the landscape architect also has to pass.

Landscape architecture is still in its early years in Thailand. That is to say that, landscape architecture has only recently started being applied to public developments. There have been landscape gardeners working on the gardens and palaces of wealthy Thais for centuries, just like in each other country with a more affluent ruling class.

Two of Thailand’s most well-known landscape architects are Somwang Leevanjikul and Chanvudhi Varavam, both of whom have been concerned in substantial government projects in Thailand using their skills in landscape architecture to create Thailand’s cities and countryside a better looking place to live.

Options For Vacation Packages To Dominican Republic Apr 24

Unlike most other Caribbean island holidays, vacation packages to Dominican Republic are not just about sun n’ sand. Instead, DR offers everything from the old world charm of Santo Domingo to spectacular coral reefs, jungles, national parks and some lovely beaches and resorts facing the Atlantic and Caribbean coasts. That’s why DR vacations have to be planned carefully.

Visitors have an opportunity to explore half of the second largest Caribbean island (Hispaniola) and a wealth of destinations and attractions. But it won’t really be possible to see all of it in a weekend or even a week. What most visitors do is book a stay for one destination and try to squeeze in some of the nearby places.

For Western tourists and leisure seekers from across the Atlantic, the three main holiday destinations are Puerto Plata, Samana and Punta Cana. Each one offers a beautiful beach holiday, along with some unique attractions. For instance, the coast off the island’s eastern tip near Punta Cana and Bavaro has some great dive spots and shallow waters for scuba divers who want to explore the coral reef.

It also has 12 superb golf courses, many of them championship courses designed by legends like Jack Nicklaus and Nick Price. A package deal here would likely include access to at least one of the golf courses, if not a full-fledged golf vacation. It would also include scuba diving in the coral reef, for those interested.

Another thing to note is that resorts here tend to be of the all-inclusive kind. They’ll provide a bucketload of restaurants, along with facilities like spas and health clubs. Not to mention swimming pools, golf courses, tennis courts, with direct beach access and water sports. The accommodations will be ocean-view villas or suites and there’s a good chance that the mini-bar in-room will be well stocked.

All that’s left to add to the package are air tickets and airport transfers. That said, visitors still end up spending money on shopping or the casinos and nightclubs. Another option would be to move a bit further up north, to the paradise on earth that is Samana.

It has a beautiful bay, and the coast plays host to large numbers of humpback whales during their breeding season. The clear turquoise waters and coral reef give way to hundreds of pristine beaches. The beaches in turn give way to tropical rain-forests, and national parks with many water falls. Samana, in short, is the perfect spot for a package with nature tours and a beach getaway.

Heading further north leads to Puerto Plata, where the airport is close by and the coast is lined with long stretches of beaches. It’s also a good base for visiting nearby destinations such as Cabarete. This makes a Puerto Plata a typical Caribbean holiday destination, with lots of sight-seeing and days spent soaking in the sun on the beach.

These are just a sampling of the possible Last minute vacations to Dominican Republic. There’s a lot more, including Santo Domingo cultural trips, an Isla Saona getaway with its mangrove lined lagoons, or a Pico Duarte mountain climbing expedition. It’s hard to just pick one and forget the rest, but… Maybe the tips provided here will help in choosing a destination based on the visitor’s likes and dislikes.

Discount Travel Vacations Packages To Cuba Apr 14

Finding and booking discount travel vacations packages to Cuba is no big deal. But actually ending up with a cheap Cuban holiday is a different matter, and it needs some smart planning and knowledge of how things work here. But let’s start with booking the package first, and then look at the practical travel tips for cheapskates.

Cuba happens to be the largest of the Caribbean Islands, and faces both the Caribbean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean. The US mainland is very close to the north, with Florida only 90 miles off. Canada is easily reached too, with flights from Havana reaching Toronto in about 3 and 1/2 hours.

For starters, the US doesn’t allow its citizens to holiday on the island and flights are severely restricted. Secondly, those coming in from Canada should know that Havana is not the only gateway in or out. It’s also possible to book one of the international charters that land directly at one of the resort destinations such as Varadero.

When the cost and hassle of local transportation between Havana and the resort is tabulated, the charter looks a lot cheaper and easier. It is indeed easy, because many of the popular resorts are on the island’s North Atlantic coast. The easy to reach destinations include Varadero and Havana, islands like Cayo Santa Maria and Cayo Coco, and hotspots in Holguin such as Guardalavaca.

To make things even more cheap, book this flight in a package. Such deals will offer a combined hotel plus air booking, along with airport pickups. The combined savings on a package deal like this will reduce a significant part of the total budget.

Also, remember that the weather here is brilliant all year long, so the white sand beaches will be just as much fun in any season. So will the taste of the local rum and the Cuba Libre and mojitos. The only difference is that package rates are much lower in the off-season, and the beaches and hotels are less crowded.

That’s not to say that summer vacations should be reconsidered. Au contraire, there are plenty more ways to save. For instance, those able to pick up a smattering of Spanish will find their daily local expenses suddenly going down. If traveling around is called for in the itinerary, a rental car will be a life-saver because the alternatives are likely to be expensive or too ramshackle.

It may also help if visitors can get used to digesting rice – lots of it, with beans and pork and chicken, and wash it down with local rum in the bars. In fact, it might be an interesting experience to eat at small restaurants with the locals, instead of in fancy diners attached to the hotel. Think of it as getting to know the real Cuba.

There’s a lot more to be learned about cutting costs that travelers will realize after the first visit to this colorful and exotic island nation. But the sum of it is that it’s better to choose a destination and book a direct flight there as part of a package deal. Look around and do some comparison shopping, because there are many agencies offering discount Last minute vacations to Cuba.
